Movie Review: Jumper
Featuring: Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, Diane Lane, Rachel Bilson, AnnaSophia Robb
Genre: adventure, sci fi
Plot: Teenager with teleporting powers becomes young man with teleporting powers enjoying life until the higher powers catch up with him
Official website: http://www.jumperthemovie.com/ Comments:
When the special effect in a movie are better than the movie itself one starts to wonder. Hayden Christensen delivers a better performance than in his previous movies, but that in his case doesn’t say much. Any B movie actor could have played Samuel L. Jackson’s part and we wouldn’t have noticed, why he chose to star in this movie is beyond me. Diane Lane could have used more screen time, she gives the most solid performance. Rachel Bilson looks way out of her league, it’s as if she doesn’t want to be there and she shouldn’t be. Anna Sophia Robb will become quite a beauty when she grows up. Other than that, poorly undeveloped plot, though the idea was interesting and it could have led to something better. Oh and it was nice to see the inside of the Colosseum for a change.

Movie Review: Fool’s Gold
Featuring: Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson, Donald Sutherland, Alexis Dziena
Genre: comedy, adventure
Plot: Yet another dysfunctional couple searching for a long lost treasure.
Official website: http://foolsgoldmovie.warnerbros.com/
Comments: Believe it or not this is worse than Sahara and How to lose a guy in 10 days. There are just as many movies that Matthey McConaughey counting only on his bare chest as asset. Kate Hudson is cute but that’s not enough to carry the whole movie, Donald Sutherland looks lost and the sidekick is just dumb.

Movie Review: Over Her Dead Body
Featuring: Eva Longoria Parker, Paul Rudd, Lake Bell, Jason Biggs
Genre: comedy
Plot: Psychic is haunted by the fiancé of the man she’s dating. I promise it’s not that complicated.
Official website: http://www.overherdeadbodymovie.com
Comments: The only good thing about this movie is how good Eva Longoria looked. Her voice was not though. Paul Rudd was just daft, Lake Bell was annoying and while Jason Biggs tried his best he was wasted in that part.

Movie Review: Mad Money
Featuring: Diane Keaton, Ted Danson, Katie Holmes, Queen Latifah
Genre: comedy
Plot: Three cleaning ladies steal retreated from use money from the Federal Reserve.
Official website: http://www.madmoneymovie.com/
Comments: The movie fails to deliver big time. Diane Keaton who generally is a good actor seems to be stuck to neurotic character type lately, Katie Holmes’ character is simply annoying, Queen Latifah is her usual bully type and Ten Danson is like he’s not even there. What were they thinking?

Movie Review: In The Name of The King
*** MIGTH CONTAIN SPOILERS! ***
Featuring: Jason Statham, Leelee Sobieski, John Rhys-Davies, Ron Perlman, Claire Forlani, Kristanna Loken, Matthew Lillard, Ray Liotta
Genre: adventure, fantasy
Plot: evil (handsome) sorcerer plans to take over the kingdom
Acting: three quarters of the movie is fighting, no need for much acting skills
Drama: evil sorcerer seduces young sorceress-to-be half his age, hero’s son killed
Action: fight against ugly orc-like creatures and tree people
Funny: not enough
Visuals: Leelee Sobieski wears great dresses, and did I mentioned Ray Liotta’s eyes?
Official website: http://www.inthenameoftheking.com/
Comments: If you find staring at hunks like Jason Statham or Ray Liotta or girls like Leelee Sobieski and Claire Forlani if that is your orientation satisfying enough then by all means go see it. If you want a plot and something more to get your neurons running you shouldn’t bother. But she did have great dresses…
